Median Household Income. The median income of households was $44,312. The total number of households was 1,446,667 with an average of 2.56 people.
Oklahoma Employment and Unemployment Rate. 57.0% of the Oklahoma population over the age of 15 were employed which ranks 34th in the nation. The Oklahoma unemployment rate is 6.8% which was ranked 41st in the country.
Types of Oklahoma Employers. The types of employers in Oklahoma were as follows: 109,758 (6.5%) were self-employed, 291,171 (17.2%) were employed by the federal, state, or local government and 1,290,359 (76.1%) were employed by the private sector.
Top Five Oklahoma Industries. The top five industries by percent in Oklahoma were: Educational Services and Health Care (22.8%), Retail (11.4%), Manufacturing (9.7%), Accommodations/Food Service/Entertainment (9.1%), and Professional/Administrative/Scientific (8.2%).
Oklahoma Occupations. Occupations for the population employed (over the age of 15) in Oklahoma’s private sector were: Business, Science, and Arts (32.3%), Sales and Office (24.5%), Service (18.2%), Production, Transportation, and Material Moving (13.1%), and Natural Resources, Construction, and Maintenance (11.9%).
Oklahoma Health Insurance Coverage. 82% of the civilian non-institutionalized population had health insurance coverage (18% had no coverage). Of those with coverage, 61% had private coverage and 32% had public coverage.
Disability. 15% of the civilian non-institutionalized population of Oklahoma reported a disability. The Oklahoma disability claim rate was ranked 8th in the country.

Total Violent Crimes. Oklahoma had 17,902 total violent crimes (which ranked 22nd in the nation) and with a violent crime rate of 0.47% (which ranked it 11th among all the states including DC & PR). Of the total number of violent crimes, 216 were murders, 1,588 were forcible rapes, 3,231 were robberies, and 12,867 were aggravated assaults.
Property Crime. Oklahoma had 129,743 total property crimes. Of the total number of property crimes, 35,731 were burglaries, 82,448 were larceny/thefts, and 11,564 were motor vehicle thefts.
Law Enforcement. Oklahoma had the 24th most law enforcement employees per population. Oklahoma ranked 30th in the nation for the most police officers per population.
